Here is a Non-video Version of the Article.
Some say that whoever builds Barn or Sheds leaves a bit of their personality in them. They are as unique as the person who builds them.
When you are trying to figure out which Barn Shed Plans best fits your needs, it can be quite an overwhelming task. With so many (even hundreds) of plans to choose from, what makes the one plan better than the other? Which one suits your needs the best?
- Steps must be Labeled
When choosing Barn Shed Plans, you need to make sure that the plans walk you through the whole process, step by step. What if the plans do not provide steps? You might then not know what steps to complete next resulting in a shed that might not be as structurally sound as you hoped it would be.
- Materials Needed
One of two things will happen with a good set of plans. These plans will tell you exactly what is needed for your project in terms of material. Alternatively the plans will be so easy to read and understand that you will be able to make your own list of materials needed, i.e. Bolts, screws, boards, etc. If you feel that you aren’t getting this from your plans, move on to the next set.
- Illustrations Must Be Well Drawn
You might have seen some Barn Shed Plans that just spell out what needs to be done for each step of the project. The really good ones doesn’t just tell you what you need to do, but also provides fantastic illustrations. These illustrations show exactly what the dimensions should be as well as how and where the pieces fit together. The saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words”, holds very true here. By having decent illustrations, you will quickly be able to tell whether you are on the right track or if you need to move to the previous step or even start over.
As a final thought, most of the really good Barn Shed Plans are put together with the Novice in mind. Plans should never be written in a way that requires you to have an engineering degree of some sort to understand them. Also, when you look at plans and they don’t seem to make sense, choose a different set. It is important for you to understand what you are reading.
